The Random Structures & Algorithms conference series was initiated in 1983 by the Faculty of Mathematics of Adam Mickiewicz University, in Poznań, Poland. In particular, Jerzy Jaworski, Michał Karoński and Andrzej Ruciński played a central role in the organization and oversight of the conference from 1983 until 2022. It was then decided that the time had come to hand off the oversight of the conference to another group, and the RS&A International Oversight Committee was formed.
This committee is responsible for identifying the host of each rendition of the RS&A meeting and generally overseeing the continuity of the conference series and the role it plays in the field. The oversight committee also plays a role in the selection of the plenary lecturers. This is done in collaboration with the organizing committee.
