All lecture rooms have blackboards or whiteboards as well as projector functionality.<\/p>\n<p>Initial registration will be from 8:30-9am on Monday in Gates-Hillman Center room 4405. Registration will also be available in the Rashid lobby during the coffee breaks and the 15 minutes before each plenary talk throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the department will be available to answer questions during the welcome reception from 6pm-8pm on Sunday evening in the Simmons Auditorium in the Tepper building.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"hl\">Local Neighborhoods<\/h4>\n<p>Carnegie Mellon University is located in the midst of several Pittsburgh neighborhoods. The department is a 15-20 minute walk from Oakland, Shady Side, and Squirrel Hill (shown on the map below; hover the mouse over the pin to see the label). Craig St, also labeled on the map, is a 10 minute walk from the department and a popular area for lunch.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1_-9W0GHe2ncrfyt0mexOhBfTc5n7jWg&amp;ehbc=2E312F\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"hl\">Parking<\/h4>\n<p>Parking is available in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.edu\/parking\/about\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Campus Garage<\/a> ($20 per day) or on the street on Tech Street, Frew Street and Shenley Drive. When parking on the street use the kiosks to pay for parking.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"hl\">Local Transportation<\/h4>\n<p>Apart from walking, buses run in both directions on Forbes Ave. The 61A, 61B, 61C, and 61D all travel along Forbes between Squirrel Hill and Oakland (and eventually, downtown Pittsburgh). Bus fare is $2.75. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rideprt.org\/gomobile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ready2ride<\/a> app allows tickets to be purchased directly on a smartphone. The phone can then be used to pay on the bus using a contactless pay terminal. Alternatively, fare can be paid in cash with exact change. Various apps can be used to track the busses; search your app store for [PRT bus tracker].<\/p>\n<p>Pittsburgh has a public <a href=\"https:\/\/pogoh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bike and e-bike rental<\/a> system. Costs start at $4 for a 30 minute ride (pick up and drop off at any station). If you plan on using the bikes, we recommend registering ahead of time online.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"hl\">Airport Transportation<\/h4>\n<p>The 28X Airport Flyer is a public bus which runs between the Airport and Oakland\/Shadyside, very close to CMU. The bus runs roughly every half hour between 4:30 AM and 12:15AM (the bus stop is close to door 6 exiting the baggage claim area); exact times can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rideprt.org\/pdfs\/28X.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schedule<\/a>. Fare is $2.75, and can be paid with exact change or via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rideprt.org\/gomobile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the app<\/a> as described above. The bus ride takes roughly an hour. <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a> gives correct public transit directions for the Pittsburgh bus system.<\/p>\n<p>A taxi from the airport will cost around $50 and take 30-40 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uber.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uber<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyft<\/a> currently operate legally in the Pittsburgh area.
